Google has informed its Hotel Center partners that, starting September 8, 2026, the vacation rentals module will no longer be visible in Google Search results for users in the European Economic Area (EEA).
What’s changing
The change applies only to Google Search within the EEA and is another step in adapting Google’s services to the requirements of the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Google states that, under the current regulatory framework, it can no longer display this module in the region, and notes that the feature may return in the future — without giving a specific timeline. This is not an isolated case. Since 2024, Google has been systematically limiting or removing travel-related features from search results in Europe — this has already affected flight information display and hotel search elements (maps, results below the map) in select EU countries. The removal of vacation rentals fits the same trend.
What the change does not affect
- Google Maps and the google.com/hotels page will still display vacation rental information — the change applies only to classic search (SERP).
- The change affects only users connecting from EEA IP addresses. Users outside the region will not notice any difference.
What this means for partners submitting property data
According to Google’s communication:
- No action is required. Vacation rental data feeds can continue to be submitted without changes.
- In practice, this means reduced visibility of vacation rental listings for users in Poland and other EU/EEA countries in standard Google Search results, and traffic from this channel may decrease.
Recommendation
Partners who have relied on visibility in the vacation rentals module as a significant source of traffic from European markets should pay closer attention to alternative channels for reaching EEA customers, as well as direct traffic to their own website.
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates should Google restore the feature.
